Richard Beauchamp: Podcast

I am proud to announce that fellow Warwick Castle historian Aaron Manning and I have written and recorded a new podcast.

Due to the success of our podcast on Daisy Warwick, we decided to go a little further back in time on this occasion. Richard Beauchamp (1382-1439), 13th Earl of Warwick, has claim to have been one of the greatest knights in Medieval England. He was a friend to Henry V, tutor to the infant Henry VI, and was a significant patron of the arts. The Chapel built on his death in 1439 is rightly considered one of the surviving treasures of Medieval England.

The podcast looks at various aspects of his life, including his military career, the significance of the symbols and mythology associated with the Earl of Warwick (included the Bear & Ragged Staff), and his involvement in the execution of Joan of Arc. The podcast also features a recording of the music that appears in the stained glass windows of the Beauchamp Chapel, transcribed for solo lute.

Here is the podcast available for free on YouTube;
