Scipio Africanus, Thorvaldsen and the Earl of Warwick

I’ve published another piece for Our Warwickshire on a classical bust purchased by the 3rd Earl of Warwick on his Grand Tour during the late 1820s. Recent research has uncovered that the bust was restored by none other than the famous neo-classical sculptor Bertel Thorvaldsen. The bust is on display in the State Dining Room of Warwick Castle alongside two other sculptures acquired during the same period.
