The DADG (Decorative Arts and Design Group) have posted a recent blog of mine, detailing an enormous piece of Victorian furniture at Warwick Castle. The Kenilworth Buffet, carved by Cooke & Sons of Warwick, was exhibited in the Great Exhibition in 1851. The entire pieces takes inspiration from Sir Walter Scott’s novel Kenilworth (1821), and is covered in high relief carving relating to Queen Elizabeth I’s visit to Kenilworth Castle in 1575.
